When the new owners of this patio home purchased the house, they knew that the dated master bathroom needed to be upgraded to suit their tastes.
The existing metallic striped wallpaper, brass fixtures, and undersized shower didn’t meet their needs or aesthetics
Removal of the existing laminate cabinets and cultured marble vanities were a priority. As both owners are tall, kitchen-height cabinets were used. The corners on the carrara marble countertop echo the detail of the engaged columns on the cabinets below.
The white, honed marble floor, with black diamond inserts elaborates on the neutral tones used on the vanities, while allowing for added detail. Radiant floor heating mats, located below the new floor adds the necessary warmth to take the chill off the owners’ feet in the cold mornings.
The existing shower was enlarged, adding to the opulence of the master bathroom. During its replacement, the brass framed enclosure was replaced with a semi-frameless one. The white 4x4 ceramic tiles were replaced with the same carrara marble on the floors, and tumbled marble tile was installed on the shower floor.
Replacing the brass fixtures with brushed stainless helped transform the bathroom into an updated, more modern space. Further, the full-wall mirror was replaced with two framed vanity mirrors with flanking light sconces.
Additional details, including removing horizontal window blinds, and providing coordinating window valance, vanity stool, and displayed linens add small punches of (subdued) color to further emphasize the clean, neutral palate used in this new, updated master bathroom.
