Award winning project: screened-in porch & decks
bluehouse architecture recently earned another award at the Home Builders Association of Maryland (HBAM) Remodelers Council Award of Excellence ceremony. This award recognizes excellence
in remodeling design and craftsmanship and outstanding contributions by individuals and companies in the remodeling industry.
The project, The Award of Excellence winner, Monkton residence screened-in porch & decks was built by Custom Deck Builders, the same builder who collaborated with bluehouse on its
2011 Award of Excellence winner, Phoenix Deck and Covered Patio Addition.
Both projects are examples of how a well-designed and well-built deck or screened-in porch can add to the
useful square-footage of the home. Exterior spaces are a great way to enjoy nature, add additional eating or family room types spaces, and are useful for three season entertaining.
Kitchen, Porch, & Main Street Projects Win Awards

bluehouse architecture's Frederick Kitchen & Eat-in Project and Poolesville Residence Porch Addition each won an Award of Excellence. The South Main Street Project, located in Mount Airy was a Silver Merit award winner.
This marks the second award bestowed upon the Frederick Kitchen & Eat-in Project. In the Fall, the kitchen design was also selected as a Grand Winner at the Mid-Maryland chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI)'s Contractor of the Year (CoTY) awards.
The residential awards showcase good examples of how a kitchen or deck can be added to refresh and rejuvenate a home, allowing it to be customized to your way of living.

Kitchen wins as Grand Winner
bluehouse architecture's Frederick Kitchen & Eat-in Project was selected as a Grand Winner at the Mid-Maryland chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI)'s Contractor of the Year (CoTY) awards.
This marks the second NARI CoTY award winning project designed by bluehouse architecture and built by Dorman Builders.

Best new private development project, Ocean City, Maryland
This three-story, mixed-use building consists of three retail units on the first floor, four two-story townhouse units on the second and third floors, and a garage unit on the first floor providing one assigned parking space per townhouse unit.
Located on Baltimore Avenue in Ocean City, the property's location in the downtown district and the resulting regulations required a harmonious façade that blended with the Ocean City Development Corporation's vision for the downtown area.
This project was noted as a new mixed-use redevelopment project that will assist in the revitalization efforts of downtown Ocean City
CotY Award (Contractor of the Year), Southeast Region, $30,000-$60,000
This master bathroom renovation project won the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) CotY Award (Contractor of the Year) for the Southeast Region. The winning entry featured a remodeled Master Bath Suite in the $30,000-$60,000 price range.
The existing third floor of the home contained a small bedroom, an out-dated and boring bathroom lacking in storage, and a non-descript area lacking a true function.
The final design resulted in a new master bathroom, complete with double steam shower, and antique vanity with vessel sink; a new walk-in closet with dressing area adjacent to the new master bathroom; and new master bedroom with a sitting area at its entry.
